yesterday was one hell of a day i managed to develop a cold/sore throat over my already horrible ongoing hayfever. i couldn't taste, smell, or breathe... my eyes were swollen shut. i slept with a box of tissue. my bf made me eat soggy nachos (his idea of lunch AND dinner). and it was also my only full day to study for my frickin PIG EXAM yup. we had a 2 hour exam today....on PIGS. of all things (we have an oral exam for it too next week). gosh, this semester has been pretty boring and useless. but although there are only a small number of subjects this semester, the amount of material is still just as insane. insanely boring and useless! out of the big written exams we have this semester. Dogs, Cats and Miscellaneous Pets I Horse I Cattle I Small Ruminants I Pigs seriously now. out of all those subjects, which one am i actually going to make good use of? will i even be touching a live pig/cow/horse/sheep during any point of my career? maybe a pet pig. but production pig medicine cannot be applied to your average pet pig. why not give us more courses on rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs? something that we small animal types will actually make good use of? (in my defense, however much i love cows and horses... i cannot be a large animal vet who has to work at all ours of the night) nd i obviously did not study enough bc i forgot that you need to add boar semen to the extender to make up 80ml aliquots of !#^@#&@ uGH anyway, to believe i almost gave up eating pork because i fell in ♥ with these babies:
royaldandie.com. they breed extreme small sized pigs. descendents of the potbelly pig. bred for smallness/cutesness. i wanted one so bad (a few weeks ago... i have my phases) but nah... i would have to give up eating pork but i just cannot. besides, they are crazy expensive... and kinda ugly when they're older. ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ because of our hectic exam lifestyle and lack of proper meals lately, i was inspired to make a pig feast today. i marinated a rack of pork ribs and pork belly (like 4lbs of meat) in a galbi-style marinade... made a korean style potato sidedish (enough to feed like 10 people... so much for a 'sidedish') and pickled carrots. so yummy! with some kimchi i bought. i also fed my housemate because he's been eating instant noodles these days. so the bf said it was a success. perhaps he just wants me to cook more often :S. anyway, in the last week, i made japanese omelet rice... and a dozen swiss meringue iced blueberry cupcakes (the cake turned out goose poo green Y_Y). and all on my own man! even though something always backfires on me. like the time i made pink vomit-coloured (it was beetroot) cream sauce linguine. but anyway...mmm... pigs... |
